Pastor Walt & Karen Troup arrived at A Place of Hope Africa Orphan and Child Rescue on November 2014, following God's calling on their lives to take the gospel to the nations. Every day, they care for the children by giving them a safe place to stay, nourishing meals, and education at a private school, and most importantly, the children see and hear about the love of Jesus Christ. The Troup's also oversee Glorious God Baptist Church in Opi and Cornerstone Church in Opi which Walt pastors and was planted in 2016.
Prior to arriving in the mission field, Pastor Walt served as an Executive Pastor in Fort Worth, Texas, and Karen led mission teams around the world to places like El Salvador, Guatemala, and India.
They have four grown children and three grandchildren of their own. The Troup Family is sent by Temple Baptist Church in Fort Worth, TX under the leadership of Pastor Doug Rife

Our Family at A Place of Hope Africa
Our children come from various areas of Nigeria. We have over 100 kids with 100 different stories and reasons why they have come into our care. Some of the reasons vary from village attacks that have left their parents dead, to HIV-AIDS, abandonment, or even loss of a mother at childbirth. But whatever the reason, we know that God has brought them within our care to raise them to be the next women and men of God in Nigeria.
